Québec's winter mandate turns on the three-peak mountain snowflake, so it is worth filtering on. Every winter and all-weather tire we stock carries it — that is confirmed for the whole of our distributor's winter program — and we apply the mark to nothing outside those two categories.
Nothing in this season carries the snowflake. It is not a winter category, so we make no severe-snow claim for it.

Summer tires: the warm half of the year
Winter tire law in Canada, province by province
Three provinces treat winter tires differently, and only one of them accepts an M+S marking as proof. These are legal requirements, not recommendations.

Frequently asked questions
When should I fit summer tires?
Once daytime highs sit consistently above about 7 °C — late March to mid-April in most of Canada. Below that the compound stiffens quickly and loses far more grip than an all-season does, so fitting them early costs you exactly the traction you bought them for. Québec's winter mandate ends 15 March and British Columbia's designated-highway rules run to 30 April, so check your province before you swap.
When should I take them off?
Before the first sustained cold snap — late October to mid-November for most of the country. Waiting for snow is waiting too long: a summer tire is already well past its useful temperature range at 5 °C on a dry road. Order the replacement set with time for shipping and for a shop appointment, because we deliver and do not install.
Are summer tires legal in Québec in winter?
No. From 1 December to 15 March Québec requires 3PMSF-marked or studded tires on all four wheels, and a summer tire carries neither that pictograph nor an M+S marking. Fines run $200 to $300. British Columbia's designated highways require 3PMSF or M+S from 1 October to 30 April, which a summer tire also fails.
Do I need four summer tires or two?
Four. Mismatched tread types front to rear give the two ends of the car different grip limits, which is precisely the condition that makes a car unpredictable in an emergency manoeuvre. If you can only replace two, put the new pair on the rear axle whichever wheels drive the car.
What about all-weather tires?
An all-weather set stays on year-round and, when it carries 3PMSF, is legal through Québec's winter window. You give up some of the summer tire's dry and warm-wet grip and some tread life in heat. If you drive hard in summer and store a winter set, summer tires remain the better half of the pair.
